New Houses & Flats
Location – Thetford
Client – Havebury Housing Partnership
Completed – April 2016
Description of works
The development includes the construction of four new build houses and the refurbishment of the old station house into eight flats. The houses were constructed using a traditional brick and block external wall with a cavity insulation. The flats were also constructed using the same method with the addition of modern timber cladding.
Mini piles and ground beams support the new beam and block ground floor. The new first floor comprises steel beams, permanent metal formwork and reinforced insitu concrete. The large aluminium windows were purpose made to fit existing openings. Due to the sloping ground, an interlocking sheet piled retaining wall was constructed between the existing railway goods sheds (new flats) and the new houses.
The works also consisted of a new block paving car park for both the residents of the houses and flats.
