Project Situation: New build three storey construction to accommodate the Stowmarket Health Centre providing more than 3700m2 of floor space.

Project brief: Phased demolition and removal of two existing buildings and outbuildings. Construction of three storey health centre, comprising of strip foundations, precast concrete ground first and second floor, load bearing cavity masonry walls and pitched single lap artificial slate roof.  New mechanical and electrical services above and below ground drainage. External works including new footpaths, landscaping, ramp, retaining walls and car parking, also including the connection to drainage and utility services.

Project Solution: The existing site contained the health centre, family centre and associated outbuildings. To cope with the ever growing demand these were all demolished to makeway for the new larger and more modern health centre.

Points of interest: To date this is the largest single contract Needhams has undertaken. Needhams have also undertaken a similar project on a smaller scale at the Andaman Surgery in Lowestoft for the same client.
